Climate Friendly FlightPortal Project Profile –Tasmanian Native Forest Protection

Climate Friendly Carbon Offset Project of the Month

This month we’re delighted to provide a snapshot of Climate Friendly’s Tasmanian Native Forest Protection Project. This is the very first Australian based project to be recognised under the Federal Government National offset standard and Climate Friendly is proud to be the exclusive provider of these carbon credits.

When you offset your flight emissions with Climate Friendly’s simple FlightPortal solution you can support a diverse range of projects which reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. The funding you provide through purchasing carbon offsets makes these projects possible.

The Tasmanian Native Forest Protection Project involves the protection 7,666 hectares of privately owned land in the Tasmanian Central Highlands. By earning carbon credit income from not clearing the native forest on their land, the project makes conservation a financially viable alternative to logging and wood-chipping the native forest for these landowners. This project offers a genuine solution to the destruction of Tasmania’s iconic native forests. The carbon credits are generated because the carbon stored in the trees is safely locked up for 100 years rather than being released through logging.

This is the very first Australian project to be accredited under the Verified Carbon Standard and to be recognised under the Federal Government NCOS program. The carbon offsets from this project are exclusively available through Climate Friendly. You can learn more about this and many other projects you can support through offsetting flights here.
